- $\angle {\rm C}$ が直角である直角三角形 ${\rm ABC}$ において, $\theta = \angle {\rm A},~x = {\rm AC},~y={\rm BC},~r = {\rm AB}$ としたとき, 三角比は次のように定義される。
$\sin \theta = \dfrac{y}{r}$ (正弦, またはサイン)
$\cos \theta = \dfrac{x}{r}$ (余弦, またはコサイン)
$\tan \theta = \dfrac{y}{x}$ (正接, またはタンジェント)
